Valentina wins first prize at the Victorina Press 2018 ‘Voces’ Poetry Award, London.

What a fantastic night we had at the Lyric Hammersmith last night! The winners of the poetry competition were revealed and I was thrilled and honoured to learn that I had won first prize. I had submitted a trilogy of poems about Neruda’s house ‘La Chascona’, inspired by memories of a past visit to one of his former homes, now a museum. It was the third poem of the trilogy which won the award, ‘La casa de Neruda – tercera patita en décimas’ but I was also delighted to learn that the first poem had also merited a special commendation.  My thanks go to the panel, por el honor, and also to Victorina Press. Gracias a la vida, a mis padres y a mis raíces!
